Website Administrator - WordPress Proficient (ZR_18143_JOB)

This is a remote position.

• Contract type: Independent Contractor
  
• Work Schedule: Monday - Friday between 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM UK Time
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Website maintenance: Ensure that WordPress Core as well as theme and plugins are up-to-date and functioning well together.

• Website design: Implementing the SMN branding style on all pages of the website.

• Information Retrieval and Archive Project: Migration of content from old SMN website and help to catalogue the content.

Requirements

• Excellent knowledge and experience with WordPress and its ecosystem of plugins.

• Ideally we’d be moving from Divi to Gutenberg, so experience in both is required.

• Creativity when building page layouts.

• Programming knowledge in PHP and general WordPress development.

• Experience with the following plugins that we use:

• BuddyBoss

• MemberPress

• Memberpress Courses

• WPForms

• Divi Builder

• Proficiency in WordPress architecture: This includes custom theme and plugin development, troubleshooting, and optimization.

• Languages and frameworks:

• PHP: This is the core language WordPress is built on, so it’s a must-have for custom coding, theme/plugin development, and backend troubleshooting.

• HTML/CSS: For front-end styling and layout customization. These are essential for making sure the site looks right and is responsive.

• JavaScript (and jQuery): WordPress uses JavaScript for dynamic content and interactions. Familiarity with frameworks like React or Vue.js could be a bonus, especially if you want to extend or modernize functionality in the future.

• MySQL: Since WordPress runs on MySQL databases, they need to understand how to manage, optimize, and troubleshoot databases.

• Custom code proficiency: Integrations between databases, payment gateways and WordPress plugins such as Memberpress, WPForms,

• Multi-media Integrations: Integrations with

• Vimeo, YouTube (creating galleries pages)

• All major social media platforms

• PDF and documents

• Automations and AI: eg optimising with Make.com and

• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills: Aside from coding, they should be able to diagnose problems quickly, whether it’s a database issue, plugin conflict, or something else, and be proactive in finding solutions.

• Security and performance optimization: Familiar with security best practices (e.g., hardening WordPress, SSL, GDPR compliance). Optimizing the site for performance—minifying CSS/JavaScript, caching, optimizing images, etc.
