The Company

Outschool’s mission is to inspire kids to love learning. In our fast-changing world, the traditional educational system struggles to meet the diverse and evolving needs of young learners. Outschool reimagines this system, offering flexible and engaging learning experiences as a supplement and alternative to traditional education. By connecting learners with a global community of teachers and peers through our online platform, we make learning personal, dynamic, and deeply human.

We've made significant strides since launching our marketplace of live online classes in 2017. Finding initial success with secular homeschoolers, we then expanded to enrichment learning to meet the needs of a wider audience, growing our business 16x since 2019. Post-pandemic, we have evolved our platform to power academic learning, incorporated AI, and have begun to grow our international community. We're proud to have served over 1M passionate learners with more than $100M in annual bookings. Driving disruptive, positive change in education is rewarding and hard. Outschool team members are encouraged to challenge themselves, take risks, and grow in their careers. We look for talented people whose sense of urgency, innate curiosity, and determination to drive impact will help Outschool achieve outsized results in pursuit of our mission. We invite you to be part of an ambitious team dedicated to ensuring every learner can navigate the future with curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning.

Outschool has been named Fast Company’s most innovative EdTech company in the world, and one of the top ten best startups for women from Elpha. This is a unique opportunity to own and evolve critical product surfaces, working closely with engineering, design, and data science to drive innovation. You'll have the autonomy to drive improvements across search, recommendations, and new product initiatives, while helping define how we leverage emerging technologies like AI to enhance the Outschool experience.

Who You Are

You're a self-driven product leader who thrives on autonomy and loves building consumer products that users love. You have a track record of shipping impactful features and products, with experience working at both early-stage and scaled companies. You're equally comfortable setting strategic direction and diving deep into execution details.

What sets you apart:

  • Creative Problem Solving: You blend data-driven decision making with innovative thinking. You're not just an optimizer – you can see around corners and identify breakthrough opportunities that others miss.
  • Self-Driven Leadership: You take full ownership of problems and opportunities, manage up effectively, and drive results without heavy oversight. You have a knack for building alignment and influencing across the organization.
  • User-Centric Approach: You have a deep passion for understanding users, with a proven ability to uncover needs, validate solutions, and ship features that drive meaningful impact.
  • Strategic & Tactical Excellence: You can toggle between big picture thinking and detailed execution, knowing when to move fast and when to build for scale.

What You'll Do

  • Lead development of new product initiatives that enhance Outschool's core product experience
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and execution across engineering, design, and business teams
  • Define and execute on both quick wins and longer-term strategic initiatives
  • Build and validate hypotheses through a combination of data analysis and user research
  • Partner with leadership to shape product strategy and roadmap

Core Requirements

  • Track record of shipping successful consumer products with demonstrable impact. You’ve likely been a Senior, Lead or Staff PM in a leading consumer tech company.
  • Experience leading projects end-to-end with minimal oversight
  • Strong analytical capabilities and comfort with data-driven decision making
  • Excellence in stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments by turning ambiguity into clarity
  • Strong product judgment and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of ML/AI concepts and applications

Plus Factors

  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML, search and recommendation systems
  • Background building consumer marketplace products
  • Building products through empathy and a deep understanding of the needs of parents and learners
  • Consumer social product experience
  • Early or Growth stage startup experience
  • A big plus if you’ve successfully brought a product to market as a Founder/Co-Founder
