Medical Scribe

This is a hybrid remote position, which means that you will train on-site in Jamestown NY and then work mostly remotely. You must be based in NY or PA, within commuting distance to Jamestown NY.

We are currently seeking a Medical Scribe to join our team. As a Medical Scribe, you will be responsible for accurately documenting patient information into electronic health records (EHR) in real-time during medical exams. You will work closely with medical providers to ensure that all patient information is accurately and efficiently recorded.

Location: Hybrid: on site in Jamestown NY + remote

Position Type: Full-time, Non-exempt

Pay Scale: $16.50 - $20.50 per hour

SUMMARY:

The Scribe assists in the documentation of a patient’s visit, along with the ordering of labs/x-rays/medication, updating the history to reflect any previous or current problems, and to code appropriately with diagnosis and Current Procedural Terminology coding.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create and scribe progress notes
• Review and edit transcribed reports or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology
• Transcribe dictation for a variety of medical reports, such as patient histories, physical examinations, emergency room visits, operations, chart reviews, consultation, or discharge summaries
• Identify mistakes in reports and check with providers to obtain the correct information
• Complete reports for procedures that are done during patient visits, at the direction of the provider
• Document provider’s findings during physical exam of patients, verify all areas of exam template are completed
• Document diagnoses that the provider determines as a result of the patient exam, and any recommendations, testing, follow-up, or additional procedures that the provider determines
• Address billing triage reports
• Create notes and medical prescription pharmacy requests
• May assist in other departments as needed
• Any additional duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Six months to a year of experience in a scribe role preferred
• At least six months to a year experience with Medent
• Knowledge of health record documentation required
• High School Diploma or GED required

• Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer or electronic device.
• Ability to type quickly and accurately while actively listening to patient-provider interactions.
• Frequent hand and wrist movement for data entry and documentation.
• Must maintain a professional demeanor and adapt to a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
